Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does your editing process look like from start to finish?
Each project and client is very different but in general they all tend to follow a similar workflow.
If it’s your first time working with me, my first step is to check out some of your work to get a feel for your style (I will also return to this step throughout the editing process). I’ll also ask if there’s anything you want me to keep in mind with the particular project at hand.
-
- Download Footage - Download your original footage (or proxies if you prefer) and open them in DaVinci or Premiere Pro.
-
- Deliver - I send the final video back to you and wait for revisions from you or the couple.
-
- Revisions - Most projects include one round of revisions then I charge $35/hour on following revisions.
-
- Invoice/Payment - I will send an invoice showing the price we agreed on before starting the project along with any revisions that were made at an hourly rate.
Here's an episode of my podcast where I explain in detail my whole process.
2. How do I send footage to you?/What file-sharing platforms do you use?
As an editor I've played with many file sharing platforms. They all have pros and cons but here are the platforms I use on a regular basis in order of preference:
-
- Dropbox
-
- Google Drive
-
- Filezilla
-
- WeTransfer
-
- MegaSync
3. What is your average turnaround time?
Typically no more than 2 weeks.
I typically don't take on more work than I can handle. In busier times of the year if there's any chance that it looks like it will take longer to get an edit back to you I make sure to let you know long before I take on the project.
4. Can you handle rush projects?
Yes! I just ask that you book the rush project at least two weeks before you need it.
If something comes up last minute and you need an edit faster than expected I see what I can to organize other projects to see how I can get yours done faster.
5. How do you organize and back up footage?
I download your footage directly to a working SSDs. I then immediately back it up an external hard drive for cold storage. Once a month my external hard drives are also backed up to Backblaze (online cloud backup).
I work off two working SSDs where all I save all project files and once a project is finished and paid I export all project files to External hard drives where they are also backed up to BackBlaze
I hold on to all footage and project files for 2 years from the date I delivered the project back to you.
Here's another podcast episode about how I manage multiple projects and clients:
6. Where are you?
Most of the time...in Argentina!! I mostly work remotely from my house in a small town in Córdoba, Argentina.
I moved down here in 2011 to visit friends and attend college and I loved it. I moved back to the states for a while and lived in Vail and Aspen, Colorado but I missed Argentina. I also go back to my hometown in Pennsylvania a few times a year but most of the time I'm here in Córdoba.
When I do get back to the states sometimes I film some weddings of my own!
Here's what I'm usually doing if I'm not in the studio editing:
